Abstract

The history of our Faculty dates back to the Royal School of Fine Arts (Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi) which was established in January 1882 and started its education in March 1883. The institution was then changed into the Academy of Fine Arts (1928) and Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (1964). The Department of Higher Architecture was converted into the Faculty of Architecture with the law of Higher Education wich into force in 1981. Our Faculty now includes the Departments of Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Industrial Products Design and Interior Architecture. Our Faculty continues its education with its distinguished educational staff in the direction of its mission of educating designers and planners equipped with knowledge and skills necessary to realize genuine and contemporary design and application with a strong consciousness of natural and cultural environment that will support creativity. MSGSÜ Our University is involved in the EU Exchange Programs in the frame of the Bologna Process since 2004 after getting the Erasmus University Charter (EUC). By the year of 2007, our Faculty has over 30 partner schools in the EU countries for student and staff exchange and this number is increasing. Our educational plans are prepared in accordance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). The EU Educational Programs will provide additional support to the progress of academical thinking.
