Abstract

Prof. Muammer Onat, 37 yıl Mimari Proje Atölyesinde Hoca’lık yapmış ve özgün yaklaşımı ile mimarlık eğitimi içinde öne çıkan isimlerden biri olmuştur. Öğrencilerinin ifadeleri yanında proje çalışmalarıda Onat Atölyesinin özgün yanınıortaya koymaktadır. ilk yıllara ve yakın tarihlere ait çalışmalardan seçilen projeler, Onat’ın mimarlık eğitiminde öncelik verdiği konularıgöstermeleri açısından önemlidir. Onat’ın yaptırdığıprojeler incelendiğinde; biçimsel ve yapısal problemlerin ‘çözüme’, devamlılığın ‘öğrencinin gelişmesine’, yaratıcılığın ‘düşünebilmeye’, kent ölçeğindeki çalışmaların ise ‘yer’in kavranmasına dayalı çalışmalar oldukları görülmüştür. Onat, öğrenciyle farklı bir iletişim kurarak oluşturduğu eğitim anlayışını Mimari Proje Atölyesinde yaptırdığı projelere yansıtmıştır. Bu makalede kullanılan projeler Onat ve öğrencilerinin özel arşivlerinden elde edilmiştir.

Prof. Muammer Onat is one of the prominent figures with his unique approach to architectural education where he has tought in Architectural Design Studio for 37 years. The Architectural Design Studio of Prof. Onat is easily identified by the extraordinary project topics and the self expression techniques of his students. Selected projects from both early years and recent years from the studio display Prof. Onat's priorities and tendencies in architectural education. One would easily concieve that the interrelations in these projects are dependent on "analysis" about the formal and structural problems, continuity of the project is dependent on the development of the student, creativity is dependent on flexible thinking, and the studies at urban scale are dependent on the perception of "place" in particular. The projects which are analyzed in this article are collected from Prof. Onat's and his students" personal archives, are the products of Architectural Design Studio of Prof. Onat also reflecting us the special relationship between him and his students.
