Gecekondulu Gençlerin Kentsel Dönüşüm Algısı: Sarıyer Derbent ve Kazım Karabekir Mahalleleri

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, kentsel dönüşüm ilehenüz somut olarak karşılaşmamış, ancakkentsel dönüşüm tehdidi ile yüz yüze kalaniki eski gecekondu mahallesindeki gençlerinbu süreç hakkındaki düşüncelerini ortayakoymaktadır. Sarıyer’in Derbent ve KazımKarabekir mahallelerinde saha araştırmasıgerçekleştirilen bir TÜBİTAK projesininsonuçlarından hareketle, kentsel dönüşümüngecekondu mahallelerinde yaşayan gençlertarafından nasıl algılandığı ve bu sürecingençlerin yaşamını nasıl etkilediği makaleninamacını oluşturur. Araştırma, anket çalışması,odak grup görüşmesi ve katılımcı gözlemyöntemleriyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlk bulgu,gençlerin hala önceki kuşaklardan kalankomşuluk, mahallelilik, ekonomik dayanışma,mahalle aidiyeti gibi bağlılık mekânizmalarınıolabildiğince koruduklarıdır. İkinciolarak, kentsel dönüşüm süreçlerinin gençlerüzerinde içe kapanma etkisi oluşturduğubelirlenmiştir. Üçüncü ve en temel olarakmahalleden kopma ihtimalinin gençleri tedirginettiği ve geleceklerine dair bir belirsizlikyarattığı anlaşılmıştır.

This research is a putting down of the tought of the young people from 2 different gecekondu neighborhood facing the urban transformation threat. Based on the TUBITAK research findings focusing on the social and economic effects of the urban transformation process on the inhabitants, this paper aims to find how this process is percieved by the young people and how they are touched by the phenomenon. The methodology of the research is a combination of a survey, focus group interviews with young people and participative observation methods. The first finding is that the young people continue the old neighborhood relations and the solidarity networks which are constucted by their previous generation. Secondly, urban transformation process create a closure for the young people of gecekondu neighborhoods. Thirdly and most importantly, urban transformation possibility discomfort them, create an ambiguity about their futur life.
