KÜLTÜRLERARASILIK,19.YÜZYILDA LONDRA'DA BASILAN OSMANLI ALBÜMLERİ

Abstract

16. yüzyıldan itibaren Doğu dolayısıyla da Osmanlı kültürü, Batı'nın zihin dünyasında egzotik vebüyülü bir dünya olarak algılanmıştır. Egzotik ve büyülü Osmanlı dünyasına olan merak ve ilgiyi, içlerinde Osmanlı kültürüne ait görsellerin ve açıklamametinlerinin bulunduğu Batı'da hazırlanan albümlerkarşılamıştır. Bu albümler, toplumların ürettiği kültürel nesneler olduğu için, çalışmamızda önceliklekültür kavramının bilimsel zeminde ne anlama geldiği tartışılacaktır. Metnin ilerleyen bölümünde kültür teriminin bir alt açılımı olan kültürlerarası kavramının sanat, kültür tarihi disiplini açısından ifadesi ortaya konulacaktır. Avrupa'da Osmanlı'ya ilişkin görsel imajlar içeren Osmanlı albümlerinin kronolojik olarak tespiti bu çalışmanın üzerinde duracağı bir başka konudur. Daha sonra ise 19. yüzyıldaOsmanlı İmparatorluğu himayesinde Londra'dabasılmış olan ''Young Albümü'' ve ''Türkiye AskeriKostümü Albümü'' adlı çalışmaların hazırlanışındakisüreçlere değinilecek ve sanat tarihi disiplini çerçevesinde söz konusu albümler tanıtılacaktır. Metninsonuç bölümünde ise; bu albümlerin Osmanlı ve İngiliz zihin dünyasında nerede durduğu, iki kültürünbu albümleri algılama biçimlerine ilişkin yaklaşımları, ve albümlerin kültürlerarası kavramı ile olanbağı irdelenecektir.

The East, and consequently Ottoman culture was perceived as exotic and a magical world in the world of thought of the West from the 16thcentury onwards. Curiosity and interest in the exotic and magical Ottoman world was met by the albums prepared in the West, containing images of Ottoman culture with explanatory texts. As these albums were cultural objects created by societies, the first discussion in our study will be what the concept of "culture" means on scientific grounds. The meaning of the cross-culture concept which is a subdiscipline of culture, will be explained in terms of art and the discipline of cultural history. Another topic examined in this study is the chronological determination of the Ottoman albums prepared in Europe, containing images of Ottoman culture. Followed by the preparation processes of the "Young Album" and the "Album of Turkish Military Costume" which were printed in London under the protection of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, are mentioned and introduced within the framework of the discipline of cultural history. Where these albums stand within the Ottoman and English world of thought, how these two cultures perceive these albums, and the link between these albums and the cross-culture concept are examined in the conclusions.
