Abstract

In Industrial Design, the complex of acpects of design create the form. Although the design is made in accordance with those acpects; it is howerer the materials and the manufacturing methods that make the form concrete. In order for the establishment of a mature design, these major factors must be studied together with the other aspects. Then the conclusions and the propositions should be correctly placed on the theory of industrial design, where the designer is to be fully aware of these factors. In the first chapter; under the headline of Industrial Design Concept, the subjects such as the definition of ceramic industry, the Industrial Revolution and it's effects on the ceramic industry were dis- cusussed. In the second chapter, the concept of form was examined from the point of view of basic design, as well as the industrial design. In the third chapter; the relationship between the form and the phases of industrial ceramics production were examined as mentioned below:. Prepearing the raw- materials,. Shaping,. Drying-firing,. Glazing. In this research; after examining the industrial ceramics, the form concept, and the various methods of manufacturing, it was pointed out that the meterial and the production methods were the determining ef fects in industrial ceramic design.
