Olba Kazısında Ele Geçen Erken Bizans Dönemine Ait Bir Tılsım

Abstract

Geç Roma ve Erken Bizans döneminde şeytanın her türlü kötülüğe ve hastalığa sebep olduğu inanılmıştır. Bu kötü etkilerden kurtulmak ve korunmak için çeşitli önlemlere başvurulmuştur. Hıristiyanlığın en önemli simgesi olan haç gibi koruyucuların yanında din dışı görülen tılsım ve büyüden de yardım beklenmiştir. Bu çalışma kapsamında 2015 yılı Olba kazısında bulunan Erken Bizans dönemine ait (5-7. yy) bronz tılsımın bir yüzünde Kutsal Binici, diğer yüzde Kemgöz betimlenmiştir.

During the late Roman and Byzantine period, it was believed that the devil was the reason for all the evil and the sickness. In order to get rid of the bad effects and to be protected some precautions were taken. Besides using some objects which are related to Christianity such as cross, it was also common to use amulets. The amulet which was found in the Olba excavation in 2015 belongs to Early Byzantine Period (5th-7th centuries). The Holy Rider was portrayed on the front side of that amulet and on the back the Evil Eye was portrayed.
