An Examination of Biophilic Design Principles in Residential Interiors through Aesthetic and Functional Contexts

Abstract

With the demands of the modern age, interiors are constantly evolving. People spend most of their time indoors, reducing their interaction with nature. Biophilic design tries to strengthen the relationship between humans and nature to prevent this situation. Document analysis and descriptive analysis from qualitative research methods were used in the research. A comprehensive literature review was conducted for the conceptual part of the research. For the findings section, comments were made with the information learned from in terms of geographical location and climate, were examined in detail. In these examinatitaken as a reference. The study aims to examine in detail the biophilic design applied with various principles in house interiors through the contexts of aesthetic and functionality. As the main conclusion of the research, it was seen that the biophilic design method provides and reflected in the interiors as a whole.
